Hide users from Lync address book

Can anyone tell me how to do this with Lync 2013?  I tried the method commonly stated for Lync 2010, but it did not work.

I need to hide duplicate addresses and those of executives in my organization from the Lync address book.

Thanks!

Are you using ABSConfig?  I'm assuming that's the method you've used and you've seen this: http://www.justin-morris.net/how-to-hide-users-from-the-lync-address-book/

If they don't appear hidden, try deleting your 2013 profile folder and seeing if the user is gone after galcontacts.db and galcontacts.db.idx are redownloaded.

C:\Users\<yourusername>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\sip_sipaddress@domain.com

Hi,

Did you use ABSConfig tool to hide Lync address book, if not, you can use it as the steps below:

Firstly, youll see a list of AD Attribute Names. To achieve this, you need to create a new one and specify the AD Attribute you want to use to filter accounts. Next, you need to specify where it says Which users do you want to include in the ABS file whether you want to:

  1. Only include users that have a value for the AD attribute you specify
  2.  Exclude all users who have a value for the AD attribute you specify.

Youre going to select Exclude all users who have a value for this AD attribute. In the field next to this, then type the name of the AD attribute you wanted to decide to exclude. In each user account you want to hide, you will use this AD attribute to populate with a data value. Once youre done, hit Apply changes. Changes will take effect next time the Address Book processes do their thing.

Now, whenever the Lync User Replicator process sees a user with a value for the attribute you specified, it will exclude it from the Address Book and that user will not appear when you search for them in the Lync client.
