Hidden sections breaking controls in Infopath 2007 form

I have encountered a problem where if you show a section that was hidden several control types will become broken. So far the only controls that seem to have issues are check boxes and option buttons. The problem isn't limited to controls in the once hidden section all controls on the form are affected regardless of where they are. It only happens when the form is being viewed on the SharePoint server when I preview it in Infopath I don't have this problem.

Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I believe I should clarify what I mean by broken. It seems that the controls are no longer bound to values. Such as the value is not being updated when the form is saved.

Hi ProdigalMaestro,

I tried to publish a 2007 form and hidden choices still can get its value without problem even created it from SharePoint site. Here are steps what I took.

1.       Create a new browser enabled form in InfoPath 2007.

2.       Add a new data connections gets data from a SharePoint list.

3.       Insert a section and option buttons within the section and bind SharePoint list as the data source of the option field.

4.       Insert another textbox and add conditional formatting to the section, set to hide the section control when textbox is equal to “text”.

5.       Then publish to SharePoint form library.

Form field is saved correctly even I type “text” in textbox and hide the section. But the only problem I got it’s the option controls always select the first button no matter what choice it actually been submitted. And this problem seems no related to the section and it is only occurs when I bind data source in its Default Value property.

If this is your problem, this only OOB solution I could find it’s to add another option control. Then add rules on the option control (banded a list as its data source) to set values dynamically to the option control (without data source banded) according the field selected on the former control.

Best regards,
Emir

It seems that I had forgotten to add some other information.

The section is hidden by default on the form. The way it is happening currently is I have a drop-down box that shows different sections based on what value is chosen. After choosing the section all checkbox controls in that section appear to have broken the bindings to their values. If I submit the form after checking all of the checkboxes the submited form does not have the value that I put in.

The checkbox is set as a type boolean with 0 as the value when cleared and 1 when checked.

I also asked this quesion on stack exchange with a little more of a description here: http://sharepoint.stackexchange.com/questions/12672/multiple-controls-on-infopath-form-not-working

Thank you for any help,
Justin

So this might be linked to dropdown boxes being the value that the hidden section watches to know if it should be hidden or not. It has now happened to someone else that I work with.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this?

I use hidden sections in forms I've created in InfoPath 2010 and am yet to encounter problems with them. However we have some staff creating forms in Infopath 2007. Controls throughout these forms behave normally when using the preview function in Infopath, however when viewed in the browser after bringing in a hidden section, text areas become awkward to click into and rules against radio dials stop functioning properly. The hidden sections are driven by a drop down list but I have also tried a list box that results in the same issue. I have tried to publish the 2007 created form via 2010 but the problem persists.
