Help - SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 & SharePoint 2010 - installing in integrated mode
I've read over a lot of installation documents online, and a lot of the posts here, and there seems to be a real issue with saying things like "install to the SharePoint server" or "install to the database server" without specifying which one. Here is a notional multi-server, multi-tier SharePoint 2010 farm. I think this is a pretty standard configuration. Now let's say I want to install SSRS 2012 in SharePoint integrated mode, with the service running on App02. On which servers must I install the add-in? Do I need the standalone DB server if I plan to store all my data in the cluster? One of the MSDN documents seems to suggest that I have to install a standalone SSRS server on a database server not in the farm - is this correct? Where can I install the SSRS in integrated mode? Where should I? Where can't I? What is the recommended architecture for this farm? Thanks! For example, no guide I have seen yet tells you that if you install the SSRS server on an application server that *isn't* Central Admin, you have to install the SSRS SharePoint add-in on the Central Admin server. That's kind of an important point. Hi Philo, Generally, the Reporting Services add-in for SharePoint are only required on the web front-end (WFE) servers when we configure a deployment of Reporting Services in a SharePoint farm. As for SQL Server Reporting Services, it should be installed on all the WFE servers and Application servers. If you want to store the report server database in a cluster or mirrored server, a standalone database server is required. For the structure of the deployment, you can refer to the diagrams in the following two articles: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh479774.aspx#bkmk_stepshttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb510781(v=sql.105).aspx Hope this helps.
