Has anyone successfully upgraded the server OS on an SCCM server
I have about 100 servers that are running Windows 2008 SP2 (x64) and ConfigMgr 2007 SP2/R2. They're also running SQL 2008 SP1. Has anyone attempted to use a traditional "upgrade" path on the OS to Windows 2008 R2? Crazy question, I know... but I was hopeful that I might not have to re-install an OS and the CM software. Thanks for any feedback anyone can provide. jcl

It's totally unsupported and I have never heard of any one evn trying it let only doing it with success. Even if you do pull it off successfully though, you'll be in an unsupported configuration. Bottom-line: Don't do it.Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | Twitter @JasonSandys

Only way to perform an upgrade is by running the backup/restore procedure. Inplace upgrade of the OS is not supported as Jason is saying.Kent Agerlund | My blogs: http://blog.coretech.dk/author/kea/ and http://scug.dk/ | Twitter @Agerlund | Linkedin: /kentagerlund
