Has anyone found a way to get Standalone media to download changed packages from DP?
I have a scenario were we are creating standalone media and pre-staging the DVD ISO's on the Hard Drive that ships from the factory. This way when the PC boots up for the first time, it completes the image using all local content. However, in some cases applications may get modified to fix critical issues, or additional applications may need to be added to the application profiles. In this case we are using the MVP tool "AppTree" and want to pulld down a list of new applications from the network and download these into the cache that is used by the "Install Multiple Software" step. Has anyone found any ways to dynamically change the content the TS looks for in "Standalone" media? Basically the equivalent of creating "Local Policy" for the ConfigMgr client on a full desktop. yes it's possible and we are doing just that using Dynamic sync scripts, which check for package changes (based on pre-defined checks) and if a package has changed they sync down the new data before proceeding, if you ping me offline i can share more details, I can't share the scripts but i can certaintly tell you how it's done My step by step SCCM Guides I'm on Twitter > ncbrady

Also you can consider to update the programs after you deploy with the original standalone image. Configuration Manager will check the version of the software on clients and update the software if the version does not match. Thank you Arthur for the suggestion. This is not however the goal we are striving towards. The goal is to patch the installation source (and other meta-data) prior to running the task sequence. Niall provided some good information on how to accomplish this with some customizations, although it works better with USB media and would be difficult to implmenet with ISO media that spans multiple disks.Levi Stevens Technical Consultant - End User Computing - West Region Dell | Services
