Hardware Inventory, SKU Number (p/n Number)
Hi

I'm trying to make a Query that will listHP Computerswith "Serial Number" and "SKU number (p/n number)". It's possible to list the "Serial Numbers", but I can't figure out how to get the "SKU Number".I found out that sometimesthe "SKU number" is listed together with the "Computer Model" (like "HP Compaq 6910p (RH241AV)) in BIOS and sometimes it's a seperate value.

I've tried different to look in Resource Explorer without any luck.

So I wonder if it's possible.. ?

First thing to try: in sms_def.mof (in inboxes\clifiles.src\hinv), look for win32_computersystemproduct. Change the class from FALSE to TRUE, andIdentifyingNumber, and Name. After a sample client has picked up the new policy (15-60 minutes, depending upon your environment), at that client's next hardware inventory, look for a view called v_gs_client, or v_gs_client0; and see if the SKU is listed.

Alternatively, depending upon where it is, we might be able to pull it out witha custom mof edit. Not all of the values in BIOS are replicated into root\cimv2\win32_bios. Can you confirm that the value you need has been? Another possibility... I don't have an HP systems to look at, but depending upon whether or not this WMI namespace exists, the vendor (or your image building team) may have installed the pieces necessary to have root\hp\<subkeys> available to you, and if so, the SKU might be in there.

If all else fails... check the web report here, http://www.myitforum.com/forums/m_180656/tm.htm(the last post), which although not as convenient as having the data immediately in your db, at least on a one-by-one basis, you can look up the SKU on HP/Compaq's web site.

I found out, that the SKU number is'nt replicated into root\cimv2\win32_bios... So I have to find out how to get the missing informations into root\cimv2\win32_bios.

I might have to look into this, if there is a solution for it.

Thanks so far.

It wasn't in root\cimv2\win32_computersystemproduct? I thought someone had told me the HP info was in there...

Oh well. I've outlined the other choices I'm aware of already; the root\hp keys, or the standalone report. I'm out of additional suggestions. Let us know if you find the solution! I've seen this question come up several times. I've got the answer for dell, and for ibm/lenovo. Still don't have a good answer for HPs yet.

Don't know but to find the SKU number in the BIOS:  Open the HP Bios with F10. In the security field select CTRL A then the system ID field,  which allows you to access the SKU number. This number is the equivalent of the product N°. which you can find on the computer tag.

The SKU Number is registered in each system.

You have to get the information from SCCM, go to your Clientsettings and Add the Hardware Inventroyclass Win32_ComputerSystemProduct and select SKU Number.
After this SCCM collects Data and you can make your report.
