Handing over Sharepoint porject

Hello,

I just started my new job, one of my responsibilities is to manage, maintain, administer, develop and troubleshoot SharePoint Server 2013 Infrastructure, we are using outsourced company to manage the SharePoint project, and this company handing over the project to my company. I started my job in the middle of this mess.

I need answers for few questions:

What are the procedures for taking over a SharePoint project?

What are the best practices for doing that? If you have links, articles or websites I will be glad if you share it with me.

From your real life experience as SharePoint admins, what are the most important things I should ask about or consider once Im taking over the project?

Any information will be very helpful for me regarding handing over from the outsourced company or taking over from my side.

thanks for your help

Best Regards

Waleed Mohamed

Hi,

According to the resource you want, please view the links below.

Although SharePoint products farms vary in complexity and size, a combination of careful planning and a phased deployment that includes ongoing testing and evaluation significantly reduces the risk of unexpected outcomes. The link below is an overview for all types of SharePoint 2013 farm deployment.

Sorry to hear that you are kind of being thrown to the wolves.  I would try to absorb as much information about SharePoint as possible, but it won't be possible to understand everything this quickly.  Make sure you get a lot of documentation from the outsourcers, and also make sure you understand it, because a lot of people do not document very well.

Also, if this is going to become your career path, I'd start working on certifications. They recommend 3-4 years of experience for the MCSE, but you could get started with an MCSA in Office 365, or server 2012. I recommend the Office 365 path.
