HTTP Error 401. The requested resource requires user authentication.

Hi ,

My SharePoint 2010 portal application is having authentication issue from the SharePoint server .It Asks for credential ,even though I am entering the correct username & password it is throwing the following error

"HTTP Error 401. The requested resource requires user authentication."

But the same is working from other server .

I unchecked "enable kernel mode authentication " in IIS the reverse is working that is site is working fine from share point server But not from other servers .

Thanks

Hi,

Its nothing to do with IIS setting, Can you please use the fiddler and access the site and it will shows the which file requires authentication with http status code.

May be any of the file which referred in your home page trying to access beyond your permission level.

If you have CSS , images and Javascript files, copy it to SiteAssets or Style libraries and check all the files if requires.
