HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized: When Accessing http://localhost/Reports/
Hi, I just installed SSRS 2005 on Windows Server 2008R2 and is getting the below error message when trying to access Report Manager: HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized: You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied. I am logon to the box as an Admin and have the report manager URL set as a trusted site therefore I am not sure what is happening - any help is appreciated. Hi MostInterestingMan, I suspect that the error is related to IIS. The message means that you do not have permission to view this directory or page using the Admin credential. And I think you may want to look at following article, Error Message: HTTP 401.2 - Unauthorized: Logon Failed Due to Server Configuration with No Authentication http://support.microsoft.com/kb/253667 I would suggest you enable Kerberos and NTLM on IIS at this moment. Moreover, I think you can also check follows, 1. Disable UAC, 2. Access the report server with FQDN instead of localhost. E.g. http://servername.domain.com/reports/ 3. Temporarily disable IE ESC for all users, a. Close all instances of Internet Explorer. b. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Server Manager. c. Under Security Summary, click Configure IE ESC. d. Under Administrators, click Off. e. Under Users, click Off. f. Click OK. At last, I think you may also want to query this to IIS experts at http://forums.iis.net/ Hope it helps. I applied all of the above steps but now I am getting the "windows security" prompt asking for user credentials. Upon entering my credentials I am then taken to the Reports Manager Page and everything works great as I am a Site Level Admin in Report Manager. In IIS Manager I have configured the default website to accept windows authentication but I am still getting the security prompt. ThanksFrancis, MCTS: BI 2008, MCITP: BI 2008 Stay Thirsty My Friends

Hi MostInterestingMan, I am glad that the information helps. As for the new issue, I think it could due to IE prevents the user credential being sent to untrusted sites. For now, let's add the report manager FQDN (http://servername.domain.name or https://servername.domain.name) into client's IE trust site. Next, if issue still occurs, please check the Trust Site Security setting by high-light the Trust site icon, and click the Custom Level button. In there, scroll down to the end of the list, and make sure the "Automatic logon with current user and password" checked. Thanks, Eileen
