HTML page throws access denied error

Hello everyone,

In our sharepoint site there is one html page "FAQ.html".   This html page (FAQ.html) is uploaded to page library in SharePoint.

There is a "Page Viewer web part" in the home page of the site,  FAQ.html is given as a link in page viewer web part.

Site loads for admins properly. But for non admins the FAQ.html page inside the page viewer web part shows access denied error message.

I checked the FAQ.html page permission and it is proper for non admins.

I am guessing that there might be some permission setup while this FAQ page was designed.  Please help me resolve this...

SharePoint 2010.

Hello Aditya,

Seems like a permission issue. when you say you have checked the permissions on the page, does the pages library inherit permissions? also, you may want to check permissions on style library or any other stylesheet library that is being referred in FAQ.html.

Thanks

Hi Adithya,

If you are having this FAQ.html as a web page, then obviously what you said is correct. You will have to handle this permission issue in that environment and not sharepoint. But, if you are showing this FAQ.html as a file which resides within SharePoint then you may consider checking permission of user for that file, make sure user has access to all the other files which are refered inside that html file if any. You may also consider setting anonymous access for the related library if your are displaying FAQ.html as a file.

You may refer the below article if you want to turn on anonymous access,

Hi Aditya,

What is on that FAQ.html page? Are there any custom webparts that the users dont have access to? Please see if the Page library's permission is inheriting permission from the parent site.  There might be possibility that this FAQ.html page might have a unique permission.

Thanks,

Hi Aditya,

For narrowing down if it's lacking permission for no-admin users as error message "access denied", we can copy the FAQ.html page into a new test library which grants these non-admin users full permission, the add this page in page viewer web part and test again, if it worked, you may double check non-admin users permission on page library and FAQ.html item.

Also make sure the FAQ.html page is checked-out and checked-in as a major version in page library.

Thanks
