HP Touchpad driver silent install fails
During a Task Sequence different drivers and software are being installed. One of the drivers is the HP Touchpad driver. This is an executable driver which has to be installed with the /s option. This works fine when Windows XP is started normally, but the same actions fails during the OSD deployment. It seems to wait for an action to continue. Has somebody any experience with this certain or a similair driver? :editThe smsts.log file shows Waiting for job status notification... every 30 seconds

It's probably waiting on some user input which is not visible during a TS. Have you tried to manually run the setup program with this switch?Jason | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jsandys | http://blogs.catapultsystems.com/jsandys/default.aspx | Twitter @JasonSandys

Yes, and that's why it's confusing me. When I run it manually using the silent/unattended switch it installs correctly, but using the same switch in a OSD deployment, it keeps waiting for input??

It has been a while but... When you start the InstallShield installer for the HP touchpad driver it will unpack into your user profile temporay directory in a randomly generated folder name or the installer will ask you where you want to unpack the files. Copy those files to another folder and then cancel the installation. Add them as a driver to SCCM since the inf for the synaptics touchpad driver installs all the necessary files for use like the systray etc...

HP Synaptics touchpad drivers typically need a log location to work properly. Try this if still having an issue. setup.exe -s /f2C:\windows\temp\synaptics.log Note: the is no space between "/f2" and "C:\windows\temp\synaptics.log" Works for my HP 6715b, 6515b, 6735b, 6535b, 6545b, 6445b, 6555b, 6455b...Find this post helpful?
