Now Management has come up and saying they want to install HP SM 7 product on SCOM server and they are saying HP SM will not utilize more memory . I have never seen an application not using any memory, unless not running :) Beside that I can only say that the SCOM sizer excel sheet states that with 1 - 250 agents, you need at least 8 GB of memory. See this link: http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2009/08/12/operations-manager-2007-r2-sizing-helper.aspx So I think it all depends on how many agents you need to monitor and the current performance of the system.Regards, Marc Klaver http://jama00.wordpress.com/

Clarification needed: You're talking about HP SIM (HP Systems Insight Manager) here? From my previous experience, it's quite memory hungry as it's running using Java (which always seem to be memory intensive). This doc says that it's not unusual to see the mxdomainmgr.exe process (the main HP SIM server process) using 750MB of ram or more. The system requirements from the QuickSpecs are: Minimum: 1.5-GHz processor with 4GB RAM (for x86) / 6GBRAM (for x64) Recommended: 2.4-GHz processor with 6GB RAM ( for x86) / 8GB RAM(for x64) I guess you won't need quite that much as you've got the SQL database running on your server already, but I'd be allocating a good 2-3GB for HP SIM and the Java system to run under. We originally ran our SCOM on a one-server-does-everything setup, but found that with 100 servers + 100 network devices checking in it was starting to struggle. I'd be very hesistant about putting HP SIM on a one server setup as HP SIM is quite resource intensive and might well cause your SCOM setup to become unstable/unreliable.

Not bad for a back room test version of a monitoring infra. But not adequate at all for a production setup.Microsoft Corporation

I think you have to lookup the minimum requirements for HP Service Manager. I don't think you will be able to install this on such a light machine and also sharing this with SCOM. Even for SCOM only this is very limited hardware, which is only suitable for very few agents and management packs. Regards, Marc Klaver http://jama00.wordpress.com/

Hi, Please ensure the requirements of Operations Manager2007 can be fit if you add HP Service Manager on the same server: Mapping Requirements to a Design for Operations Manager 2007 http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb735402.aspx Meanwhile, since this question is also related to HP Service Manager, it is also recommended that you contact HP Support for help: HP Support http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html Note: Microsoft provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support.
