HP Laptop fails to PXE boot
Hi Everyone, I am getting an odd problem which I am having a hard time fixing. I have 1 laptop which refuses to boot via PXE. Below is an extract of my smspxe.log file pertaining to the laptop in question. MAC=B4:99:BA:E1:43:84 SMBIOS GUID=D55CF1D0-3704-11E0-81D0-B9F76E397027 > Device found in the database. MacCount=1 GuidCount=1 smspxe 13/07/2011 1:55:45 PM 10280 (0x2828) [010.128.144.084:4011] Recv From:[010.128.145.080:68] Len:303 177d3b0 smspxe 13/07/2011 1:55:45 PM 9720 (0x25F8) Executing GetBootAction(5943, VM-08-SCCM) smspxe 13/07/2011 1:55:45 PM 10280 (0x2828) No Boot Action for Device (5943) found smspxe 13/07/2011 1:55:45 PM 10280 (0x2828) ProcessDatabaseReply: No Advertisement found in Db for device smspxe 13/07/2011 1:55:45 PM 10280 (0x2828) [010.128.144.084:4011] Recv From:[010.128.147.030:68] Len:283 18bd970 smspxe 13/07/2011 1:55:47 PM 8656 (0x21D0) Executing LookupDevice(1F011BD9-C661-11DD-BBDA-7D48BF0A0023, 00:23:7D:48:BF:0A) smspxe 13/07/2011 1:55:47 PM 10280 (0x2828) CDatabaseProxy :: LookupDevice succeeded: 4155 1 4155 1 smspxe 13/07/2011 1:55:47 PM 10280 (0x2828) As you can see, its complaining there is no advertisment for the specified computer. However! If I look at the computer properties in the SCCM Console and look at the advertisement tab i see that it does in fact have a TS advertised to run. I can also see that the GUID displayed in the smspxe log is not what is shown on the PXE boot screen. Could this be my problem? (If so how on earth do I fix that?) I have done the following: 1. Deleted the machine from the SCCM Database and re-added it. (Actually I have done this multiple times - Different names and different collections) 2. Restarted the WDS service 3. Changed the WDS cache timeout setting 4. Restarted the SCCM server (And SQL) 5. Re-advertise the TS to the collection and other collections. 6. Searched the internet for help. 7. Started pulling my hair 8. Posted here Any help would be much appreciated as im about ready to pull the rest of my hair out. Thank you in advance. Adam.

I think, same errors are discussed in the below thread. Have you seen? http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/configmgrosd/thread/76e02b9e-0cc6-4311-8709-6d46f4d5c17dAnoop C Nair - This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees, and confers no rights. |Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hi An00p, Thanks for your reply. I hadnt seen that particular post and I have now created a collection based on the MAC address as suggested in the thread you linked. However the only PC that comes up is the one im having issues with... Any other ideas? Thanks again for your reply. Adam.

I would create a query on the MAC, and see what it finds... Delete what is found, and then run the query again. I have seen cases where several different object are queried. I would then try and do the deployment from CD, as that will bring you into winpe and trouble shooting the smsts will become an option! it win also enable you to rerun the OSD wizard over and over again by running X:\sms\bin\x386\TSbootShell.exe from the F8 command shell While trouble shooting from the boot media, remember to look for the object in unprovisioned computers.Michael Petersen My Deployment Blog - http://blog.coretech.dk/mip
