HP Compaq 8200 Elite SFF mysteriously fails to build

Hey Guys :)

Im gonna start making more use of the friendly peops at technet and try to help if I can in return..

so our TS was working fine for the 8200, had always been working fine. couple of days ago 8200 build fails with these errors in smsts.log:

Error. Received 0x80072ee7 from WinHttpSendRequest.

hr, HRESULT=80072ee7 (e:\nts_sccm_release\sms\framework\osdmessaging\libsmsmessaging.cpp,8919)

sending with winhttp failed; 80072ee7

I think its network driver related. other models build ok.

I have a production TS 2.1 and an updated soon to be productions TS. I have not made any modifications to them. both fail with the 8200.

I dont think theres anything i did to cause this but what I have done is:

enabled PXE on one of the DP's

updated about 15 failed packages/applications on the DP's (no errors now)

so I dont beleive that the fault is with the TS's but Im not sure how to troubleshoot this, Ive have a hunt around for errors but nothing.

I have 1 x Primary and 2 x DP's

any ideas?

Cheers

Stephen

0x80072ee7 = "The server name or address could not be resolved"

This is a name resolution issue on the target client. You need to troubleshoot that from the perspective of that client system.

Thanks guys, nope no IP Address. network drivers fail to install as well as other drivers. I tried pasting in the smsts.log last night. i'll give it another go.

my account needs to be verified before I can insert a link. will update as soon as this is sorted.

Just be clear, you do have an IP address during WinPE -phase of your task sequence? If this crashing is hapening after "Setup Windows & ConfigMgr", are you using "Auto Apply Drivers" or "Apply Driver Package" -step prior to that?

Hello we had something similar happen to us recently we were using the apply driver step and adding a WMI condition to check the value of model. One or two of our 8200's had a different model name so our query was not returning true resulting in our drivers not being installed. Simple fix was to modify the condition.

Like Narcotico says though you should let us all know if you are using auto apply drivers or applying a specific driver pack? I would always recommend applying specific driver packs if you can, its quicker and you have much more control.

Hey Guys, newbie mistake. I assumed becuase we'd been using the x64 TS that the 8200's would have been built with x64 already. they hadnt.. so I imported the driver, created driver package and injected into TS. Sorted..

Thank you for your help :)
