HELP - RDL report parameters not defaulting correctly
I have a 2005 RDL report
There is a report parameter that has a list of school years, like '2001-2002'
The Default for this parameter is set to '2011-2012'
Yet, when I build and run the report, the pre-selected value in the field is '2009-2010'
This is my first time working with this older version of Report Viewer, and the help is so cryptic as to be useless. HOW do I get the field to default to the 'Default' value?
I'd rather live with false hope than with false despair.

when you run the report in BIDS, is the default value working properly? Sometimes, once deployed, you need to change the default value manually in report manager. If it is not working properly when previewed in BIDS, then you have another issue.

Thank you so much for answering.
here is the setting...
I click Build, Deploy, and Run, and...
Now, I *am* redeploying this after it has existed for a long time. And I have heard that the default values don't deploy when you re-deploy. Can you explain that you mean by
change the default value manually in report manager? I'd rather live with false hope than with false despair.

Hi There
One thing I noticed could you please put your default value like this
="2011-2012"
="2011-2012"
I hope it will resolve your problem as this is string and you have to put this in quotes
If you have any questions please ask.
Many Thanks

In report manager after you deploy, run the report, then click on the 'Properties' tab. I don't have a 2005 environment up to remember the exact steps. In the properties tab, you should have a parameters section where you can set the properties
of the parameters. Let me know if this works for you.
