Granting permissions in MOSS by group or page
Right now I've been adding permissions to pages by going to 'site actions' ->'site settings' -> 'advanced permissions' and adding security groups. This is time consuming when I'm adding one group to 10 pages. It requires going to each page and adding the security group. What I'd like to do is when viewing the group, then add pages to it. Adding the 10 pages to that one group would be simpler. Similar to in active directory where you can open the security group and add an individual or open the user and add the security group. Is there a similar way in MOSS? Thanks.

You should group the files together with similar permissions, whether that means creating a new page library or creating folders and breaking inheritance, your choice. ChrisChris Givens CEO, Architecting Connected Systems Blog Twitter

Thanks Chris. By "files" do you mean pages/sites? Each subsite is already not inheriting permissions. I want to assign page/subsite permissions by adding the page/subsite to the group under site settings -> advanced permissions. I don't know if this is actually possible.

Yes, files = pages. you need to go to the list and set the permissons for the list, OR categorize the files/pages into folders and break the inheritance to set the permission that are the same for all pages in the folder(s). This would be done from the list setting page for the list, or in the javascript dropdown of the folder. ChrisChris Givens CEO, Architecting Connected Systems Blog Twitter

Thanks Chris. Your answer was correct and I just worded it wrong. It's for 'sites' not 'pages' that I want to do these permissions. For lists I'm good, it's just permissions for sites that are consuming excess time. Since posting my question I found the answer.
