Gradient colors in RS
Dear All, I was wondering if there is a way to have gradient colors in Reporting Services. I would like to achieve the effect of fading gradient style in the header of my table(s). I have heard that CSS could potentially be the way to achieve this, if so how? Any help will be much appreciated Thanks

I do not believe this is possible. Could be wrong, but I have never seen anything that could do this. Work around Create the gradiant as an image. embed image in report. set backgroundImage = gradiantimage

Thanks David, I initally thought of using that solution but I belive this will increase the rendering timeof the report. At the moment this is the best solution possible and I will implement this, unless I can find an answer to the CSS solution. Thanks

Note that in SSRS 2008, you can use gradients as fills on several objects. -Sean

Gradient colors are only supported in chart and gauge report items. As an alternative to using an image as a backgound, you can try creating a chart, set it's background to whatever gradient you want, hide all the chart elements so that you only see the gardient fill and use that chart as your report background.

Carsten, I am having the same issue so I tried following your suggestions. I am using Report Builder 2.0 with SQL Server 2008. The problem is when I insert the chart into the table cell or row the data in the table doesn't appear. I have hidden all the parts of the chart so that only the gradient fill shows but the table data gets hidden behind the chart. Any ideas.. Vik
