Is there a way to get support for Google Chrome with Steady State? I can not get it to run when Steadystate installed.

Laureate, You have to install Chrome on an admin level account; then run it at least once. Go back and take admin rights away from that account, and reapply Steady State's restrictions. And what about Web side restrictions? Do they work in other Browsers than IE?

I am on Vista and am having the same issue, BUT I tried installing and running it on the account to be restricted while it had Administrative privileged but the Chrome still will not show up or stay when I add it in to the 'Allowed' list in Steady State for that account. Beyond this, I'd have no idea how to make sure Chrome saves data to a different folder than the app data folder under the user profile folder either. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks,Hal

When you install Chrome, you have to create a shortcut from the start menu to the desktop. You can't install it and leave the default icon it creates on the desktop. Similar behavior is exhibited with Adobe Acrobat Reader when you install it for the first time. The shortcut that the installer creates will be hidden once you reapply steady state's restrictions. Doesn't matter if the account has admin rights. delete that shortcut, or just create a new one from the start menu, and it should load fine. After installing the program, run it once, create the new shortcut, then run it again. log out and remove admin rights to the account, reapply the restrictions and log back in, and see if chrome loads. I haven't actually tried it on one of my Vista machines. (maybe I will) I set chrome NOT to save any data or settings or passwords (why would you?)
