Give permission only to see the document library object without its content

Hi,

I have a site with document libraries with folders in it.

Users from different departments will have access to some folders  / sub-folders but not all the library.

The thing is that I want them to be able to navigate to those folders, but without an access to the library they will need a direct link...

Is there any way to give a permission only to view the document library object (it's icon and the views pages) without the content?

I don't think so but in case I can set a custom permission level for it it can be

Hi keren,

According to your description, it seems to you want to add links on navigation for the folders in the library, and you want to restrict the access to the content for the library. Is it right?

If its right, I have some suggestions for you.

1. Create a link to a folder:

We can click Edit Links on the top navigation or Quick Launch, and then enter a display name for the link and a target location. We can copy the folders url from the browser's address bar.

2. Set permissions for the library:

We can edit permissions for folders in this library.

(1) Select the folder and click Share With in Files tab on the ribbon.

(2) Click Advanced .

(3) Break permission inheritance for this folder and then remove the users or groups as you need.

If my understanding is incorrect, could you tell me more details about your requirement?

Best regards,

Linda Zhang
