Getting an OSD Error after upgrade to SCCM 2012 R2

We just upgraded to CM12 R2 from SP1 and have run into this hiccup.  The imaging is not completing to the end.  I am receiving the following error Failed to create instance for IMTCTokenHandler interface, hr=0x80070005 in the SMSTS.log.  None of the packages or applications in the TS are being installed and it also looks like it is bypassing WSUS as well.

At present I am still using the CM12 SP1 client in my TS, the reason for not upgrading as yet is because all of the Secondary Sites are not yet at R2.

Anyone have any suggestions for me?

Thanks..

Fabian

Have you applied the latest cumulative update for R2?

Hi Jeff,

Applied Hotfix KB2910552, that's it but haven't applied CU1-CU4 as yet.

I would consider applying CU4. . .

Another avenue is to create a copy of your task sequence, change the client install to the R2 client, and test the TS deployment.  Does it work properly with the R2 client?

Same result Jeff.

I would get CU4 installed, then.

Hi,

The version of the client might be a problem, check this:

https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ef656052-c768-4e97-beb4-f63720dc41d3/standalone-osd-hanging-during-setup-windows-and-configuration-phase?forum=configmanagerosd

0x80070005

This error generally means access is denied. Please also verify network access account.

I am receiving the following error Failed to create instance for IMTCTokenHandler interface, hr=0x80070005 in the SMSTS.log.

One single line from the log does not help at all IMHO. The root cause might show up earliert. Upload all logs to OneDrive.

Please remember to integrate CU4 patch to OSD too, it will not be enought just to upgrade site server. You will have to use PATCH= switch in Setup and COnfigure Client - step. There is a few ways to do that:

Are you using the built in Config Manage client package (which will have been updated during the R2 install), or are you using an SD package you created yourself?

The latter will need new source files to work of course.
