Get Managed Metadata with COM - Taxonomy Session

Hi guys,

I want to retrieve Managed Metadata of a document library with VB and update some of my files in the library with managed metadata. When I google this case I get answers which refer to the TaxonomySession Class (Microsoft.Sharepoint.Client.Taxonomy). When I try to include that one in my code, visual studio wants also an Object Path. But in the MSDN library Object Path is said to be for internal use only.

So the question is: How can I access the managed meta data and set the values for my files? Do I need the Taxonomy Session class or is there another way?

FYI: the code is for a MS Visio AddIn for some End Users and they should choose a managed meta data value of a whole managed meta data taxonomy tree in a windows form.

Best regards,

Andr

Hi Andre,

Per my understanding, you might want to update Managed Metadata column of a library from client side.

Microsoft.SharePoint.Client.Taxonomy is a good option for us to work with.

Here is a blog with code demos written in C# would be helpful:

http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sharepointdev/archive/2011/11/18/how-to-work-with-managed-metadata-columns-by-using-the-sharepoint-client-object-model-kaushalendra-kumar.aspx

For about handling authentication when using Client Object Model, SharePointOnlineCredentials class is helpful when coding against SharePoint Online site:

For On-premises environment, you can use NetworkCredential Class:
