Hi SCOMfilmy, Are there more databases where you have the same issue? If not you might want to check your port settings. If you are installed the SCOM agent and at a later point changed the port for SQL this problem can occur. This is resolved when you reinstall the agent. regards, Marthijn.

Hi Can you double check the versions of SQL that you have installed on the server? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321185 Are there any SQL 2008 components? E.g. SQL Management Studio? What version of the SQL Management Pack do you have installed? The latest is: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=10631 Does the error include a database name. I have seen general "failed to login" errors when a database is set to autoclose (and hence is closed when SCOM tries to access it). This wouldn't however, explain why you are getting a SQL 2008 discovery error against a SQL 2005 database .... Just a thought ... if you go to the SQL Computers state view in the Operations Manager console (monitoring, microsoft sql server, computers) - does this server show up as SQL 2005 DBEngine and \ or SQL 2008 DB Engine?New SCOM 2012 Blog! - http://www.systemcentersolutions.com/blog/ View OpsMgr tips and tricks at http://systemcentersolutions.wordpress.com/
