Generic Password reset error
I have the Just released RTM installed and working. I have followed all the steps in the password reset funictinality and gotten all the way to the challenge questions and answers. Once I answer the questions it gives the error to please contact the system administrator and that is all it gives.Any clues? ThanksAlexAlex

Yes I did specify during the install for the application to generate a self signed cert. I have nothing showing in the app event log. All it is saying is the an exception error happened and the appication was reset. I am not sure what that means. Thanks for your help AlexAlex

are you looking at the event log of the server machine? 1. can u find Event Viewer --> Applications and Services Log --> "Forefront Identity Management"? 2. are you saying the above view is empty?

No it is not empty. The information it is giving is very non descriptive around the forefront exception handling capture. That is all it is saying. Could this be a product of the use of the 32 bit version of IE 8 instead of the use of the 64x IE8? Thanks AlexAlex

C:\Program Files\....\Service\Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service.exe.config follow the 3 steps. Then change Error to Verbose change fimDiagnostics.svclog to C:\Logs\fimDiagnostics.svclog create folder C:\Logs and grant authenticated users full permission on that folder restart FIMService, you should see a log file created.... now try it again, there should be more info in the event log and the log file
