General weirdness on our sites.
We've got a Central site, 3 Primary child sites and about 40 Secondary sites.
What I"m seeing on the Central site is that the SMS_Site_Component_Manager service is missing. As in not there at all. personally, I've never heard of a service vanishing without uninstalling the app first or some portion of it, but since you can't uninstall
the components.... The Task Sequence Agent service is also missing, but I'm not so worried about that as it may have been removed by turning off OSD agents. (Not sure of that, but it's a possibility. And in the Configmgr Service Manager, I'm
getting real weirdness.
In the left pane, SMS_MP_File_Manager shows once, but when you click on it, in the right pane, it appears 5 times (for the central site) and four times for two of our Primary sites. (One is currently non-functional, but has been removed as a child of the
central). For the SMS_COMPONENT_MANAGER it shows once on the left, but twice on the right. The SMS_OUTBOX_MONITOR shows once on the left, and 4 times on the right. This is the same on our two other Primary site servers.
Anyone have any ideas on 1) how the SMS_Component_Manager service vanished, and 2) why these individual components would have such a weird display? I can query each individual component on the left and each will show as running. I'm just baffled as
to why these will show up multiple times while the other components display just fine. 1 left and 1 right.
We also had created a bunch of advertisements for some app packages and they have also vanished without a trace. Going to look into SQL for that.
We're (for better or worse) running SCCM on a 64bit Virtual machine, as is the SQL server, which I believe is the 64bit version on it's own 64bit VM. I've tried several things, but I just can't seem to get at the root cause of this. The AV we have on
the server isn't detecting a virus, so I'm relatively comfortable that isn't the case. I'm simply at my wits end as this is yet another in a series of issues with this site and I'm at the point of recommending ditching the VM and installing SCCM on a hard
box instead.
Any help/ideas/shoulder shrugs at this point will be greatly welcomed.

By your description, I'm fairly sure it's this:

It's likely because your server is Server08 x64, and perhaps you didn't update your console to match the installed version of ConfigMgr on the server. (remote console). Or it's simply that you are still on ConfigMgr Sp1, and are missing the hotfix
for SP1 so admin consoles display information correctly when the server is x64Standardize. Simplify. Automate.
