GAL Sharing and Synchronization between two Exchange2010 SP1 organizations with W2K8R2 SP1 AD forests
Hi, Scenario: I am working with two AD W2K8R2 SP1 Forests with W2K8 Domain/Forest Functional level. Both forests are located in same site. A transitive two way trust exist between these two forests. Objective: Once a mail-enabled object is created/modified/deleted in one forest, it automatically gets updated in the other forest GAL. In other words, I am looking for a GAL Sharing and Synchronization solution. Moreover, the solution is preferred to be free or comparably less costly. Also, the solution should be easy and quick to implement and manage. My goal is to find out and implement the quickest and easy-to-install/configure/manage solution for GAL Sharing and Synchronizing between the two forests. Research for Products: I have done alot of research to solve this problem. However, I am still looking for some expert advice. The solutions I found so far include: 1. Microsoft Exchange 2010 Federation 2. A GAL Sync Powershell Script 3. GALsync 4. ILM 2007 FP1 with SP1 5. FIM2010 6. GAL Sync with Quest Quick Connect Express for Active Directory Please advice. Thanks, Faisal

1 won't work. 2 does work (I should know - I wrote it) 3 I don't know 4 won't work with Exch 2010 5 will cost you. It is worth the expense if you want to do other provisioning and sychronization apart from just the contact creation. Eg., creating user accounts, copying group memberships... 6 is surely not free?http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

Carol, 4 will work with Exchange 2010 I think: http://setspn.blogspot.com/2010/05/global-address-list-synchronization-gal.html But it's not free as well. However I think you should consider the following into your product of choice: how long will you be in this coexistence scenario? If you are in for a short-time/migration from A to B scripting could be it. On the other hand, if you are in for a long time with this I would definately considerd FIM 2010. It's GAL MA's works really well out of the box. And once you start building up experience with FIM it could become part of a larger IDM strategy/tooling. Regards, Thomashttp://setspn.blogspot.com

Thank you guys for the advice. I achieved the objective (as mentioned in my previous post) exactly as needed using the free tool: GAL Sync with Quest Quick Connect Express for Active Directory. It worked like a charm. Thanks,

Hi guys. Quest Quick Connect Express for Active Directory is renamed to quest-one-quick-connect, now. And it is not freeware :( Could someone help with links to Quest Quick Connect Express for Active Directory (rapidshare, depositfiles, etc...)? Thanks.
