I was missing a new for 2008R2 but required entry: < Authentication> < RSWindowsExtendedProtectionLevel>Off</RSWindowsExtendedProtectionLevel> < RSWindowsExtendedProtectionScenario>Proxy</ RSWindowsExtendedProtectionScenario > < /Authentication> Thx to Danik2011

Which of the 5 configuration files require this entry? I'm working on getting the same sample working and ran into the same problem. These files (from the example are modified (rsreportserver.config, rssrvpolicy.config, rsmgrpolicy.config and two web.config files), of them three have < Authentication > keys: rsreportserver.config, ReportServer\web.config and ReportManager.config Thanks, James.JLK

Just rsreportserver.config

Figured it out. The rsreportserver.config file was the one needing the entry. That got me past this error and on to the next (which now requires me to apply the latest Cumulative Update (in my case CU9). Thanks to Matias.Koppinen for posting the solution to his own problem, I really appreciate that. James.JLK
