Forgot my Administrator Password on my LAPTOP (not linked to homegroup or anything) HELP !!! NEED MY FILES !!!!

Good Day,

My kids were visiting and got on my laptop and downloaded items I didn't want them to.  So early one morning, (before my first cup of coffee) I changed my USER PASSWORD (I'm Administrator) and added a Guest User without a password.  My password hint was so vague:  I am ......

Dear Lord- what was I thinking?  I am - What???  Could be ANYTHING !!  I've been trying (to no avail-obviously) to remember my password.  I didnt create a reset/recovery USB disk - and I didn't write it down.!!  It's been 2 weeks and I cant get into ANY of MY IMPORTANT WORK Files.!!

Do I have to reinstall Windows 7

You have to boot your laptop from USB/CD drive with 3rd party recovering/resetting passwords tool. Then reset your admin password.
Free Windows Admin Tool Kit Click here and download it now

Hi Evilred209,

Thanks for your post.

As Slava's suggestion, you could use 3rd party recovering/resetting passwords tool to have a try. But according to the Microsoft,  it doesn't recommend or endorse any one of these companies for legal reasons now.

If you still couldn't fix the problem, I am afraid that you will have to reinstall the system. To reinstall the system, Use an external hard drive or flash drive connected by the USB port and copy the installation files to the root of the device, then boot the laptop from the USB device. Use the installation CD to reinstall the system.

Best Regards,

Mary Dong
