Finding out who deleted a web part
Hi allLately we have had some web parts disappearing from our Sharepoint Services 3.0 site. The end users of the site are adamant that they have not physically deleted these web parts and are blaming it on Sharepoint and have asked me to investigate what is going wrong. I do not think that the web parts would be getting randomly deleted so am of the opinion that it is one of the users that has removed these web parts. Is it possible fior me to find out who has deleted a web part? Is there a history kept anywhere? If not, is it possible that they are telling me the truth and WSS is indeed deleting random web parts? Many thanks in advance

Never hear about sharepoint deleting Webparts Could try this, Go to recycling and verify if are there, have the name of person who delete. The other this, "if you have luck" is people dont delete and just close the Webpart, then you can restore using the site "http://[site]/_layouts/spcontnt.aspx?&url="[Path Page to edit] Hope this help....Andr Lage Microsoft SharePoint and CRM Consultant http://aaclage.blogspot.com

In order to restore the closed webparts for a particular page, you can do the following Go the page where you have closed web parts Click edit page Select a zone where you want to add the webpart and click add a web part On the right side of the page, go to Browse -> Closed Web Parts You will a list of closed webparts, below the top section You can drag and drop the webparts from this section on to the page Hope this helps. Thanks,Prashanth
