Filter list on ID (last ten)
I'd like to filter a list based on the ID field (which we are using for ticket numbers). I'd like the list to only show the last 15 records. Is there a query formula I can put into the View's Filter for this?Dave Englund

Hi, In the View properties, you should see Item Limit property. Limit it to 15 and Sort by Id Desc. Hope it helps. Regards RangaRegards Ranga www.sharepointfrontier.com

Thanks. So easy to forget the obvious :) One thing, while that works, I would prefer to have the most recent 15 records sorted Ascending, so that the most recent item is always just above the new record row. Its a small detail that while not critical would be nice for usability. Unfortunately, if I limit to 15 and do sort Ascending I get the first 15 records rather than the last (most recent) 15 records. So, the trick is how to filter for the last (most current) 15 records and still sort Ascending rather than descending. Any ideas?Dave Englund

Have you looked at the view creation options? As well as ascending and descending, under the sort options, you can sort by more than one category. So, if you set ID as your main sort, you can then sort on either date created or date modified to show the most recent items. Please let us know if that doesn´t make sense.Steven Andrews | SharePoint Professional | http://www.twitter.com/backpackerd00d | https://baron72.wordpress.com/

Its not quite the solution I'm looking for. I would rather filter by ID with some kind of rule like "last ten" items. I don't want to filter by create date because our support team can createa lot of items in a single day and then the list would neeed scrolling to get to the bottom to see the most recent and add a new record. I just want to present a short list of the most current records in Ascending order so no scrolling is required and the most recent record is just above the create new record row. It could be based on create date/time, but when I create a new date field the thing picks up the current day with a time always being 12:00 AM (not the real time of creation). So, it wouldn't do me any good to try and pull the last 10 records based on create date right now. If you know how to get Created Date to work correctly I'd be interested in a filter to use that. But, since the time stamp isn't working right I thought I'd just pull the most recent 10 or 15 based on ID.Dave Englund

Are you using a calculated column in this at all? In regards to your item count, set the pagination at the bottom of the view customisation to show 10 items only. This'll mean that the 11-20 records will be viewable only when a user clicks on the "next x of items link.", which sould work fine with the automatically populated column for "create time." If possible, can you sent me an stp of your current list (with some demo content) to baron_72@hotmail.com and I'll have a look at it tonight.
