by the logs, do you mean the crawl logs?
Hi Paul,
Yes I mean the crawl logs.
Oups, you are right, when I make a search, the search box tells me that I am searching on "this site".
But I don't see any way to search on everything.

Ok to to modify the the search settings of the site collection, but is it possible with SharePoint Foundation ?
I don't see where.

You modify it under the Search Settings link in the Site collection Administrator's Settings. In order to use the dropdown you will need to create a Search Center.
You should be able to search in the Search Center and find results in the document share. Thanks a lot Paul, it's working and I am able to see the file shares results !
I still have a question: when the user is on the main site, he is now able to choose "Everything" instead of "This Site". I want to allow my users to directly select a Result source or a Sontent source from the basic search combo.
Is it possible with SharePoint Foundation ?

Hi Paul,
To allow my user to limit his search to a specific scope, I create a custom search page where the user can choose a seach scope. A javascript automatically concatenate a Path instruction to the search string given by the user.
Then I call the results.aspx of my SharePoint Search Center site. This page is showed on a IFrame in my main site.
