Are there any specific dependencies, permissions, etc I can check that might be generating this error? We run this as a monthly Task Sequence. The same servers failed last month also, so I really don't think it's random ;) Why does the Task Sequence engine update security on an object on every drive? Seems to fail once it gets to the H; drive ("Failed to convert H: to unique volume id."). I don't see anything special or out of the ordinary with this drive on a sample server -- e.g., it has plenty of space and the Local System account has Full Control... Cheers.

Hi! The error code 800700EA is not really very helpful here as it just means: "More data is available". (Error: 800700EA; Source: Windows) Did you see any error in system logs?

Hi Donec, Yep, not very helpful at all :) Nope, nothing in the Application/System Event Logs at that time on the same sample server...

Hi! Coudnt you create two packages: first - with parametr "shutdown -r" and second package without any command with program's parametr "after running - ConfgMgr restart computer"? And test this packege - what will result?

Problem should begin with 'Failed to get unique id". Does the issue occur with all clients? I suspect that something on that client prevent the action. You may temporary disable antivirus and firewall on the client then check the result. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

Hi Donec, We could do that but that's not fixing the root problem :)

Hi Arthur, Good to hear from someone at Microsoft :) This problem does not occur on all clients, but it does occur on a dozen or so every month out of 3000+. These are servers -- I can't just disable the antivirus/firewall for testing :( It happens even to servers with the same antivirus version/firewall ruleset in the same OU getting all the same Group Policies... Are you able to find out what condition(s) specifically generates the above error message from your product team? :)
