Farm Administrator permissions with SQL Server
I need your help in one question that I have about the Farm Administrator permissions on the SQL server, as per TechNet article, this account granted automatically the following: · dbcreator fixed server role · securityadmin fixed server role · db_owner fixed database role for all databases in the server farm I have the concept that securityadmin and dbcreator are not needed anymore after completing the installation and configuration, but if you remove these two server roles, you will lose some feature like creating new web application or creating another database for the site collection, my questions are: · What are the affects if we remove these roles if we can remove them? · If we add another Farm Administrator using the CA, does that account get the same server roles?

Hi, As you already know after removing these 2 roles Farm admin account won't be able to create a site or at very first step when you try to connect SharePoint farm with SQL it will not be connected to Config DB. To change farm admin account you have to follow the procedure mentioned in - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934838 And yes you have to assign these two roles on SQL DB to new farm admin.
