Failing to Install FIM 2010 CM RTM Eval
I'm attempting to install the RTM Eval of FIM CM... and I'm bombing out on the install of the FIM CM software (this is way before I get to have the real fun on the FIM CM configuration wizard). Note: I've been able to install the various flavours of FIM 2010 RCn CM so I've some reasonable experience at this. I'm installing FIM CM onto an R2 server in a 2008 AD domain - and I have installed all the IIS / .Net pre-reqs, etc. I'm only installing the CM portal, I don't need to install the CM CA files as the CA is on another box. The install wizard runs through seemingly successfully, but just as it is about to complete, failure is snatched from the jaws of victory and it bombs out with an error telling me to contact technical support group, etc. Inspection of the event log at this point shows: Product: Forefront Identity Manager Certificate Management -- Error 1722. Cannot properly run a setup program to completion. Contact either your technical support group or your package vendor. Action InstallUtilCaching_BIN, location: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\installutil.exe, command: /LogToConsole=false "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager\2010\Certificate Management\web\bin\Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Caching.dll" . Does any one have any ideas about what might be causing this? There's a pint of warm beer in it for you. Cheers, Dave

You may be able to get more detailed logging by generating an MSI log file during the installation:msiexec /i msi-filepath /l*v log-filepathPaul Adare CTO IdentIT Inc. ILM MVP

have you installed the web server with IIS6-compatibility tools? The RC1 documentation missed that prerequisite. /hope this helps Matthias

Late to reply to this... the MSI logs showed nothing and I certainly had done the IIS6 compatibility stuff (I'm using the exact same installation guide I put together when installing the RC3 release). The rig has now been blown away so I'll try again. Thanks for your suggestions. Dave
