Hi, I am trying to deploy win2k3 sp1 via OSD and TS but have run into the dredded "failed to run task sequence....an error occured while retrieving policy for this computer (0x80072EE7)" error message. From what i have read this error message seems to be related to a NIC issue on the machine which i am trying to deploy to i.e its unable to pick up an IP address from DHCP or there's a DNS issue. However, i have double checked that the NIC driver is there...i have also tried assigning a static ip from within the TS but still no joy. BTW i trying this out as a VM. I am abit stuck on where else to start digging inorder to investigate the issue and find a fix. I have managed to grab the smsts.log file file so hope that can help and offer some clues... Can somebody please offer some guideance??? Can you do F8 when error pops up and do ipconfig to see if IP address is assigned

IP address is assigned

The problem that you have is that the MP machine name cannot be resolved. You may have a DNS issue. After you do an F8 and open up a command prompt, can you successfully 'ping' SERVER1.TEST.DOMAIN.COM?

Hi, I have managed to get around the problem above but now get an error message stating that the task sequence cannot be run because a package referenced by the task sequence could not be found. Yet i have not idea which package its refering too... smsts.log indicates failed to find ccm_softwareDistribution for advertid=<> package id<> - however im not sure where to start looking for this or what it relates to...
