Failed to download pxe variable file
Been having some trouble with my lab. I have the issue described here:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/smsandmom/archive/2008/08/26/configmgr-2007-osd-deployment-errors-out-within-a-few-seconds-after-winpe-loads-and-then-automatically-reboots.aspx
However, i do have a valid IP address. All the logs look good (winpeinit.log and smsts.log) smsts.log just shows the following:
Failed to download pxe variable file. Code(0x00000001) TSPxe
PxeGetPxeData failed with 0x80004005 TSPxe
I've searched and haven't been able to find any additional information. Any suggestions?MCTS: ConfigMgr, MDT / http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/cnackers/default.aspx

Hey Niall,
It's a virtual machine, Hyper-V. I was getting the issue where it would reboot automatically after WinPE had loaded. I had the same issue with boot media, however my boot media is working now. However, i'm still getting this issue when
PXE booting.
It's just in my lab, but i'd like to know why it's happening :) If possible.MCTS: ConfigMgr, MDT / http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/cnackers/default.aspx

ok, are you only getting it on one vm ? ie: if you create a new vm does it also have the issue ?, if not, delete the lease in DHCP for the computer with the problem, restart the dhcp service and try again

very odd, and you've verified that DNS is working perfectly ? have you tried removing the psp, uninstalling wds, reboot, reinstall wds, configure wds, reinstall psp
drastic, but quicker than blowing away your lab

Uninstalled WDS, deleted the RemoteInstall directory, reinstalled WDS, configured WDS (initial config), installed PXE Service Point... appears to be working now...
