Failed to create virtual directory on the defined share - DP share
I know there are other posts about this but I have the same problem on a machine that was working. I have not altered bits or anything in IIS. The files attempt to copy but it gets as far as creating the folder and then no more. My WAN group is not finding any issues. DPs are working fine on other sites and they are getting the packages fine. I reinstalled this as a DP share to a different location. Now nothing. SMS Distribution Manager failed to process package "PwUpdate" (package ID = FCO0000A). Possible cause: Distribution manager does not have access to either the package source directory or the distribution point. Solution: Verify that distribution manager can access the package source directory/distribution point. Possible cause: The package source directory contains files with long file names and the total length of the path exceeds the maximum length supported by the operating system. Solution: Reduce the number of folders defined for the package, shorten the filename, or consider bundling the files using a compression utility. Possible cause: There is not enough disk space available on the site server computer or the distribution point.

OK. I was curious to see what would happen if I tried to add a DP on an existing Secondary site server. Same errors as the others. What the ____???

I've never even heard of that but I'll give it a shot. How do I install it on 2003? I'm not having much luck... Thanks

OK. This was a BITS issue. Unchecking the Communication Settings to Allow clients... fixed it. Why? I think I've seen other threads relating to this so I'll take a look. Anyone here knows off-hand, please share. Thanks!
