Failed to create the configuration database
Hello Everyone, I have seen this problem tailing since long time and now in 2011, I have the same issue and I have tried all the solutions, tip & tricks available anywhere on Internet but still no go. The amazing thing is that DB gets created and while I try to go back to start where it end up with an error, the DB can't be recognized and configration is not able to pick up the DB already created. On top of that , I was able to setup and run every thing while this Sunday night update crashed my installation and while I removed everything and now trying to reinstall and ending with an error. I think I picked the wrong forum as well as my issue is with MOSS 2007 not with 2010

Hi Zack, You can check and find more relevant error information under the path C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\LOGS. And you need to check if there is an application pool "SharePoint Central Administration V3" existed in IIS, you can check and make sure it with correct account per this article. Or delete CA application pool directory from IIS if you re-install a new SharePoint environment, it will re-created during the SharePoint installation. Thanks Regards, Daniel
