Failed Client deployment not reporting back to FSP
i have about 400 failed clients, and only 22 entries in the FSP report. Am i looking at a permission issue?

Erm I don't know, perhaps you could enlighten us with more information on what you're trying to do?

We did an automated client push. 400 computers failed, for different reasons like service pack (2000 SP3), MSI version etc. We than lauched the manul client install for the rest: \\SCCM01\SMS_TOS\client\ccmsetup.exe /source:"\\SCCM01\SMS_TOS\client" /mp:SCCM01 SMSSITECODE=TOS FSP=SCCM01 SMSSLP=SCCM01 That added about 100 computers. when we run the Client Deployment Failed Report report, only 22 computers out of the 312 left appear in the report. I am wondering why?

Checkthe CCMsetup.log of one of the failed machines which did not send a status message to FSP. If it is not able to send a status message to the FSP a error is recorded, perhaps that might help diagnose this further.

Did you specify the fsp in the install command? FSP messages are only sent if ccmsetup actually starts, if the install fails before that no message is sent. (i.e. check ccm log for errors 5 and 53)John Marcum | http://www.TrueSec.com/en/Training.htm | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum

Yes, the FSP is specified in the command, but after checking few logs, the second part of your reply explains it. what i did find out tonight, that if I added the SCCM site machine account to the local admin group (the install SMSadmin I have created is already in), the manual install succeed on all attempts, no exception. I do not know enough to figure out why, but it worked for every single machine I tried which have previously failed.

I alway use the machine account instead of a client installation account. If this is considered resolved plaease mark it as answered.John Marcum | http://www.TrueSec.com/en/Training.htm | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum
