FIM RT1 to RTM Eval Upgrade - Error during Install
I'm attempting to upgrade an FIM RC1 installation to the RTM Eval. The "Install Synchronization Service" wizard completed successfully.I'm running into an error during the "Install Service and Portal" setup.I'm looking at a wizard window titled "Forefront Identity Manager Service and Portal Setup".A popup warning box reads: To install FIM portal, the setup needs to run under SharePoint
Farm administrator account with at least Open permission that
allows users to open a Web site, list, or folder in order to access
items inside that container. Please make sure you are a SharePoint
Farm administrator with Open permission and then click "Retry". Click "Cancel" to abort setup. I'm running this install using a Domain Admin account. Sharepoint Central Administration has BUILTIN\Administrators (which should include my account as Domain Admins is in the local Administrators group) listed in the Farm Administrators group. I've tried adding my account in as well, but I'm still receiving this error.Suggestions?Thanks.

Ok, well I decided to try running the install while logged in as the local administrator. Using the link from the splash page didn't work, it would get to the end of the wizard where it was trying to start the FIM Service and the service would start and then stop immediately. I then ran the setup.exe using "run as administrator" and it completed successfully. It still doesn't make sense why I was receiving the SharePoint error when installing using a Domain Admin account.

Hi QKRTHNU,Is the account you are using to upgrade the same as you used to install the RC1? And is your portal located on a separate sharepoint server?I had the most pleasant experience in upgrading RC1 to RTM - it was really a single click (almost) upgrade.AB
