FIM Portal Lenguage
Hi, I'm trying to change the default lenguage of the portal, i have already installed Service and Portal Language Pack for Spanish and Italian in the server, and clients have also the Add-in lenguage pack, so the users could see it in Spanish. I followed a guide to change the default lenguage but nothing happens, all the look and feel still in English... I need, at least, see it in spanish. I search in Technet, and other forums but i found nothing, Any guide, help or steps to change it? Thanks a lot!

Hi, The client regional settings are with "TZ:Buenos Aires, Argentina" / Lenguage: Spanish (Argentina), and in the IE Tab, general, lenguages, Spanish (Argentina) [es-AR] is in top of the list.

And unfortunately, if the language region isn't supported, i.e es-AR, FIM will default to English (en-US) and not the same language family, i.e. es-ES. Marc Mac Donell, ILM MVP, VP Identity and Access Solutions, Avaleris Inc.

Thanks for the responses!! I checked and verified that "Spanish (Spain, International Sort) [es-ES]" is in the first place in the "Language Preference" of IE, i also tried with "Spain (es)", and with "Spain (Any acountry)", the language input is the same, and in the FIM server portal "Spanish Language Pack" is installed...but the portal still in English.... Any ideas?

My IE is set as "Spanish (Spanish, International Sort) [es-ES]"....I also test it in diferents maquines and server, and they have the "correct" configuration (es-Es).... I figured later that i don't need to change the settings in Localization tab, es-ES figured as a supported language. Thanks once again. Regards

Hi Mike- Can you check to make sure the FIM Portal build # is the same as the FIM Portal Langauge Pack build #? The easiest way to do this is as follows: Open Windows Explorer (on the machine that has the FIM Portal deployed) and look in: C:\Windows\assembly. Scroll down to find the assembly 'Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls'. Take note of what's listed for that assembly in the Version column. Below that, you'll see (possibly many) assemblies with the name: 'Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls'. Use the Culture column to identify the one that has Spanish resources (culture will be 'es'). Take note of what's listed for that assembly in the Version column. Then can you reply with the two version numbers you found? Thanks, Seth

Hi Seth, The version for Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls is "4.0.2592" and the culture column is empty... Is there a way to fix that?

So you don't have any files in the GAC with the name 'Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls.resources'? Also, to confirm: if you go to Add/Remove Programs can you see a listing for 'Forefront Identity Manager Service and Portal LP'?

Let see... In C:\Windows\Assembly i have the following: NAME Culture Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls <Empty> Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls.resources es Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls.resources it And in "Programs and Feautures" i see "Forefront Identity Manager Service and Portal LP".... I have installed the LP for Spanish and also for Italian, because i need to see the portal in any of these two lenguages, depending the location of the users.

Can you also include the 'Version' column in your list? So for example, my GAC looks like this: Assembly Name Version Culture Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls 4.0.2592.0 <empty> Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls.resources 4.0.2592.0 it Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls.resources 4.0.2592.0 es What versions are in your GAC? -Seth

Seth, Assambly Name Version Culture Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls 4.0.2592.0 <Empty> Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls.resources 4.0.2587.0 es Microsoft.IdentityManagement.WebUI.Controls.resources 4.0.2587.0 it These are the version numbers and culture... What i see it's that i have different version numbers, and you have the same... So, is there any way to take those to the same version? Any ideas? Thanks!
