That is correct, and some may even want Basic Authentication (especially when trying to troubleshoot Kerberos issues <G>)Brian

This won't make setup fail, but it does cause other challenges if IIS7 Kernel Mode Authentication is enabled. I've had to disable it when using CM in the past.CraigMartin Oxford Computer Group http://identitytrench.com

Brian Komar already answered this question mostly, I am so glad he is here to help. Anyways, I am working on revising those installation instructions (no I didn't write the original set, but I am revising it). Anyways, here is a quick run down of what needs to be done: Ensure the required IIS 7 role services are installed Open Server Manager. In the console tree, expand Roles, and then click Web Server (IIS). In the Web Server (IIS) pane, under Role Services, click Add Role Services. Ensure that the following Role Services are either already installed or select them for installation. Common HTTP Features Static Content Default Document Directory Browsing HTTP Errors HTTP Redirection Application Development ASP.NET. When you select ASP.NET, you are prompted by the Add Role Services dialog box that there are additional required Role Services. Click Add Required Role Services and the following Role Services will be selected. .NET Extensibility ISAPI Extensions ISAPI Filters Health and Diagnostics HTTP Logging Request Monitor Security Windows Authentication Request Filtering Performance Static Content Compression Dynamic Content Compression Management Tools IIS Management Console IIS 6 Management Compatibility When you select IIS 6 Management Compatibility, the subordinate items are automatically selected. Click Next and then click Install to install the additional Role Services. Close the Add Role Services dialog box when installation is complete. Ensure Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 is installed In Server Manager, click Features. In the Features pane, click Add Features. Select .NET Framework 3.5.1 Features. The Add Features Wizard appears, click Add Required Features Click Next and then click Install. Close the Add Features Wizard when the installation is complete. Run setup as an administrator. Right-click setup and then click Run as administrator. I will get the update to the instructions as soon as possible - hopefully early November 2010. Thanks Brian, this post helped me through the installation too! :-)
