FIM 2010 support for SQL 2008 R2 and SharePoint 2010
I have gathered from other posts in this forum that FIM 2010 is not supported on SQL Server 2008 R2 or SharePoint 2010 (the latter completely failing to allow install of FIM due to a prereq check, if nothing else). Is there any roadmap or plan for when these might be supported with FIM 2010? Maybe in a future update? I'm researching FIM 2010 and there is a desire for us to install it for the addition of group management through the portal, if nothing else. We have ILM 2007 FP1 running on SQL Server 2005 and have recently installed a shiny new SharePoint 2010 farm running on SQL 2008 R2. It would be nice to be able to leverage the existing SharePoint farm rather than setting up an independent WSS 3.0 farm just for FIM, as well as to be able to co-locate the SQL back ends in R&D and disaster recovery environments. Because we are using Windows Live MAv3 (Live@edu Hotmail) that isn't supported with FIM, I'm looking at a scenario where we have SQL 2005, 2008 and 2008 R2 all running in parallel and I'd imagine on separate boxes, along with ILM 2007, FIM 2010, WSS 3.0 and SharePoint 2010. Considering we want to have all the critical pieces in our DR site, and I want to be able to do development and testing in a separate R&D site, each additional server/software component we have to add is all the more painful.
