FIM 2010 Installation Error 25009 Invalid column name 'object type'
Hello, I'm attempting to migrate a MIIS 2003 environment to FIM 2010 in a test environment, but have not been able to update the database upon installation of the Sync Service and inclusion of the backed up key. I've followed the steps here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff608268(WS.10).aspx without luck as I consistently get an Error 25009. I've added the SQL Native Client in the hopes that the error was the same as the 'Invalid string error' others have discussed here. I've also added the FIM_Sync service account along with the account doing the installation as a SQL SA to assure it's not a permissions issue, and enabled Named Pipes and TCPIP via cliconfg.exe and disabled the firewall. The full error is: Error 25009.The Forefront Identity Manager Synchronization Service setup wizard cannot configure the specified database. Invalid column name 'object_type'. Old environment is (one server): · Win2003 Enterprise SP1 · MIIS 2003 Enterprise Edition v3.1.1030.0 (SP1) · SQL 2000 SP3 Standard Edition New environment (one virtual server): · Hyper-V Win2008 R2 x64 · FIM 2010 · SQL 2008 Enterprise x64 Customer has basically used an “if it ain’t broke” scenario and has not made any changes to the environment in over five years as it “just worked.” I’ve restored the original environment to a functional MIIS 2003 isolated virtual environment without problem. Any suggestions are appreciated, Dan

Upgrade from MIIS to FIM is only supported from MIIS 2003 SP2 (version 3.2.x.x). I can't say I know this error, but it might be that if you upgrade to SP2 first, the upgrade will work. /AndreasThis posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
