FIM - Features/Functionality which could be useful to have
Based on my overall experience with MIIS/ILM/FIM(Just started learning), some of the features/functionality which could be useful to have, 1. Preview of Export Operation: Like Synchronization preview, it would be useful to select one 'Pending Export' object and export it to the DS. Ofcourse, it wont be preview as Rollback may not be possible for various reasons. 2. Maximize/Minimize buttons for dialog boxes. 3. Select Export: Export only 'Pending Deletes'/'Pending Adds'/'Pending Updates' or some rule like where department = 'HR'. We can that have different 'Run Profiles' for each scenario. 4. Rule based 'Full Synchronizaton': If you change any IAF/EAF/Rules Extension code then thumb rule is run 'Full Synchronization' on the MA. This works when you don't have too many records to process. However when you have millions of records and know that the change in IAF/EAF/Rules Extension is not going to all the records but just few then it would be "REALLY" useful to say that run "Full Synchronization" only on those CS objects which satisfies this condition. As an examples let say that DS1 is supplying millions of users to DS2. Then it was noticed that few thousand users dont have email address. So a new rule is needed to set email address to 'first name'.'last name'@zyc.com. After writing/updating the Rules Extension, it would be lot useful to say run "Full Synchronization" only on those CS objects where 'email address' is not present. 5. Dynamic enabling/disabling of Provisioning. It would be useful to enable/disable the provisionging via some script and possibly all the settings under (Tools -> Options -> All the settings). 6. Update MA properties via script: During DR process, you may want to change the server connection details of MAs via script (if the number of MAs is considerably large). 7. Some sort of option in the UI to delete old logs automatically, say 7 days old. Ofcourse manual deletion and via script is possible. 8. ... Cheers, Sachin
