FIM2010 communication ports, rights and permissions
Hello people! Right now I am implementing FIM 2010 RC1. I am working with the followgin MAs:+ AD Domain Services MA+ Oracle MACurrently I am working on a lab exercise where I will be synchronizing user credentials using PCNS: domain1|AD(source) -> domain1|ILM -> domain2|AD(destination)The next scenario will be: domain1|AD(source) --(trust)--> domain2|ILM --(no trust)--> domain3|AD(destination)OKEY, so right now I have every possible firewall disabled to make it work so all the ports are wide open. But for production enviroment I need to identify the specific ports that FIM2010 MAs will be using...I can only found documentation on this topic for MIIS2003 as follows:Management Agent Communication Ports, Rights, and Permissionshttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc720599(WS.10).aspxIs this document valid for FIM2010 MAs??? (AD and Oracle)Thank YOU all,max

I would expect the information to be the same. The MAs in FIM are essentially the same as in ILM/MIIS.http://www.wapshere.com/missmiis

The documention should be also for FIM 2010 MAs, since the communication with the connected systems (LDAP to ADS for example) didn't changed.Depended on your detailed deployement scenario for the FIM box the following may be considered for your firewall configuration (from RC1 FIM2010_Install_Guide.docx):Installing the FIM Service installs the Web services parts of FIM 2010 and also configures the FIM Service database on the server that hosts SQL Server 2008.During the installation of FIM Service, port 5725 and 5726 are opened and exceptions for these ports are added to the Windows Server 2008 firewall settings. Opening these ports enables communication to the FIM 2010 Service from the FIM Portal, FIM Password Reset Portal, FIM Synchronization Service and FIM Password Reset Extensions components installed on other computers in your organization. /Matthias

Markus, Any chance we can get the FIM documentation updated so this information is referenced there? -jeremy
