FIM2010 - basic and advanced training for consultants, developers and architects - whats out there?
There is very little in the forum threads here that covers training resources for FIM2010 so I thought I would post a new discussion for folks to put their tried and tested training resources in one place. If you do a comprehensive search of the web you quickly find that there is little in the way of detailed training out there - there are a number of training providers that offer classroom and remote classes (SQLSoft+ being an obvious one in the USA), a few in Europe (UK and Germany) and some in the Far East (Australia) but otherwise not as many as you might expect. Most training courses that are available are created and supplied by the Oxford Computer Group who have a very comprehensive portfolio of training courses and credibility in this arena - there is a comprehensive training roadmap for everyone from first time users of FIM with no prior experience, to seasoned experts looking to upgrade their skills from ILM to FIM. More importantly they offer a range of training scenarios to suit your preferred method of training; · Classroom: scheduled 4 day courses in the US, UK and Germany – including course manual and use of a PC to carry out labs and exercises. · Live Distance Learning: Through training partners SQLSoft+ (in Seattle), trainees can join a class remotely from almost anywhere with a broadband connection (9am to 5 pm Pacific Time only). · Online Training: Introduced in the spring, courses are available online as a self-paced service, with the option of having an assigned tutor/mentor (real field consultants) with whom a trainee can interact by email or directly online. The online training is particularly good for those of us without the luxury of time to attend a classroom course or to travel, or who simply want to learn at their own pace - the live virtual training environment, available 24/7, provides an excellent learning environment with which to learn and experiment with FIM2010. But what else is out there? I'd love to see what other training resources others have found and would recommend....

For those in Australasia or Asia-Pacific, Unify Solutions offers an excellent range of classroom or custom in-house training, which our attendees were extremely satisfied by both content and delivery. http://www.unifysolutions.net/unifyTraining.cfm (Chris Cox was formerly with OCG in the UK)

I do suspect that Unify will have the same course as OCG for FIM developer (a522), right? but they don't have it ready yet... And yes, my vote goes to Chris too :)
