FBA User Login Issue - Post Sharepoint 2010 farm Server migration.

Hello,

Recently we moved the Sharepoint 2010 Farm server into a different physical base server. The farm has a FBA (claim based authentication) site. After moving the farm, the FBA site is not opening and giving a service unavailable http error 503. On searching various blogs for help I got the site up and running after checking the Sharepoint services in services.msc and Application Pool.

Now the issue is with FBA users logging. The error message is The server could not sign you in. Make sure your user name and password are correct, and then try again.  No changes are made on the server before/after the movement. Few blogs mentions to check for the user account at IIS application pool. The already configured FBA admin account details are passed in application pool. The error is same.

Please help me with solving the issue. :)

how did you move the SharePoint farm ? please provide detail

you still have the old server ? if yes, then compare the web.config files for SharePOint site and Security Token Service Site,

if all matches, then tale a ULS log while logging into the site.

An image of the whole server containing SharePoint farm is copied to a new physical server with same hostname and IP address. This image is switched ON in the new physical server and the old server was cleared to remove hostname and IP conflicts in the network.

Now when I check the ULS Log for the same site gives critical message as "The security token username and password could not be validated".

Is the error related to the Identity account in Application Pool???

the error "The security token username and password could not be validated" is generic and could appear because of many reasons like if machine key is not matching, if encryption key is tampered, or simply because of wrong username and password.

its hard for me to say if the error is related to Application Pool. it would be great if you could re-check all the FBA configuration in web.Configs.

is it SQL FBA or LDAP FBA ?
