Extract current settings (database name / url)
We have an old development server that we need to bring back into use to maintain an existing sharepoint site. The problem we have, is that all our development database servers were migrated to new servers, and as such we get a "Could not connect to the configuration database" error when we try to access the site and central administration. I found that you can change the database server using the "renameserver" STSADM command, but it requires that you know the name of the old database server, and I am afraid that knowledge has been lost. My question is: How do you get the name of the database in the current settings? Is there an STSADM command to list the configuration for the server or some other way we can get it? Note: This is a simple setup with one application/front-end server and the database server.

if it is a dev server and you are not bothered why not simply run the Configuration wizard to disconnect from the farm and then attach back to the known config DB? I think the Configuration wizard will tell you the DB Server and the config DB it is currently attached to. HTH Nagesh S Days and years do not mean anything to me.
