External image in a SSRS 2008 R2
Hi, I'm trying to show in a SSRS 2008 R2 (for CRM) an image hosted in an internet side, but I cannot see anything. In the image properties I've specified external as the image source and a string "http://website/image1,jpg" as the expression. Moreover, I've tried to change the dimensions in the image properties. Any ideas to solve this issue, without embedding the image? Many thanks

Is the comma in this string a typo? "http://website/image1,jpg" "http://website/image1.jpg" Chuck

Sorry, I've made a mistake. I want to type a dot ("."). Thanks

It is possible that a personal firewall is blocking the image from appearing. I just did a test embedding an external picture into an ssrs report and when I went to preview mode my AVG firewall popped up and auto added a rule to allow it. (PreviewProcessingService.exe) So you may want to check your firewall logChuck

The answer to this question would seem to validate the firewall as one possible theory: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sqlreportingservices/thread/8cf4a0ed-708e-400f-be66-972ade595d85Chuck

Hi oldjeep, but I can see the image when I write the Url in my browser on my machine. ??? That would be normal. The image that I used could be brought up via Internet Explorer but when used in SSRS service required permission at the firewall. Chuck

This report has been also tested unsuccessfully from a my colleague. I've disabled my Windows firewall. I'm connected to my company lan with an ISA server. So I think that also for IE the image should be blocked and not only for SSRS 2008 R2. I've no results. Thanks

Also, I've tried to restart the SSRS services with my domain account, but no results are returned. I've tried to link a jpg from another site, and I can see this image. ??? Thanks

Hi, I want to update my issue. I've tried my report first writing the URL of a jpg on a web site known from my company network and then typing the URL of a jpg on an "external" web site. As the first thing, I've tried to test the preview inside BIDS, in the company network: I could see the image of the "internal" web site, but not the jpg of the "external" web site. Moreover, I've published the report on the Report Manager site of my machine, with my domain account as the execution account for the Report Server service: I couldn't see both the images. As the second thing, I've tried to test the published report on my Report Manager site, from my internet connection's home: I could see both the images! So I think that the oldjeep's suggest is good. But the real issue is that my report must be published inside a CRM on-line environment and I think that is unlikely that Microsoft could insert the related Report Server service in his firewall for showing the imaging by the related URLs. Many thanks
