Exporting document sets to excel
I use the metadata on my document sets as a weekly report. I export the list view of the metadata to excel and it works fine. The only issues is that along with the list view from SharePoint it also exports a link to all the documents in each folder. I then have to go and delete all the document links before I can use it as a report for my leadership. Can someone tell me how to omit the document links when I export?

Hi mstephen99,

As I understand, after exporting the list view of the documents to excel, the name will also be the link to the document, and you dont want the link, right?

Per my knowledge, there are several types of Name column, whichever you choose in the view to export to excel, it will be a link.

For your issue, modify the view and dont choose name column.

If you want to export the name value to excel, create a column and copy the name value to it using a workflow (check start workflow automatically when an item is created or changed).

Then modify the view and choose the newly created column instead of the name column.

Please follow the steps to create a workflow:

  • Edit the document library in SharePoint Designer. Then create a workflow to the library.

  • Add an action named set field in current item and set newly created column with the value of Name column.

  • Make sure you have checked start workflow automatically when an item is created or changed, then save and publish the workflow.

I hope it can be helpful to you.

Best regards,

Aaren Liu
